Post 16 Teaching Assistant

Location: Newcastle
Post 16 Teaching Assistant Salary: £75 to £100 per day
Start Date: September term of 2024

GSL Education is seeking dedicated and enthusiastic individuals to join our client schools as Post 16 Teaching Assistants for the upcoming September 2024 term. This role is ideal for those who want to contribute to the academic and personal development of students in their final years of secondary education.

Job Summary:

As a Post 16 / Key Stage 5 Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and students in the sixth form, providing essential support across a range of subjects. Your role will involve assisting with lesson preparation, offering targeted support to students, and helping to create a positive learning environment that encourages student achievement and progression.

Post 16 Teaching Assistant Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in the planning and delivery of lessons tailored to Post 16 students, under the guidance of subject teachers.
• Provide one-on-one or small group support to students, helping them with their studies and exam preparation.
• Support students in developing independent study skills, critical thinking, and time management.
• Help monitor student progress and provide constructive feedback to aid their academic and personal development.
• Support students with additional educational needs, including those with SEMH, ASC, and other learning difficulties.
• Assist in maintaining classroom discipline and promoting a focused, inclusive learning environment.
• Collaborate with teachers and staff to support the overall well-being and success of students as they prepare for higher education or the workforce.

Essential Requirements for Post 16 Teaching Assistant:

• A degree in Education or a related subject is preferred, but not essential.
• A prior experience as a key stage 5 Teaching Assistant will be accepted.
• A strong interest in working with young adults and supporting their academic and personal growth.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Adaptability and a willingness to engage with a variety of subjects and teaching methods.
• An understanding of the challenges faced by Post 16 students and a commitment to helping them succeed.
• An up-to-date CV (covering the last ten years with no unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or willingness to apply for one).
