ASD Teaching Assistant

Are you experienced in working with students who have Autism?

Do you possess the skills to encourage and motivate students to participate in class activities?

A Special Educational Needs School in Slough are actively looking for ASD TAs like you!

The SEN School caters to students with a range of complex needs between the ages of 2 – 19 years of age. The Special Needs Teaching Assistant will be expected to provide 1:1 and small group support to assist students with Autism in their learning and development.

This position is an immediate start for exceptional SEN Teaching Assistants.

Requirements

A thoughtful, engaging and creative approach

Experience in supporting Autistic students with SEN in Schools

An updated Adult and Child DBS

Ability to use PECs and Makaton to support communication

Responsibilities

Assisting Class Teacher and other support staff in implementing lesson plans and conducting activities with ASD students

Ability to work effectively as part of a team

Acting as a ‘secure base’ for students who you work closely with

Following the SEN Schools policies and procedures in relation to Safeguarding, Child Protection, Behaviour Management, Health and Safety

It is preferred but not essential that Learning Support Assistants have Manual Handling, Hoisting and Team Teach training.
