Cover Supervisor

Location: Barnsley

Pay Scale: £94 to £115 per Day

Start Date: ASAP

Contract Type: Full Time

The Role:

GSL Education's South Yorkshire branch is currently seeking a compassionate and dedicated Cover Supervisor to join a supportive Secondary School in Barnsley. As a vital member of the team, you will be responsible for maintaining a safe and secure classroom environment, identifying and addressing any hazards or risks, and responding appropriately in emergency situations.

The successful candidate will:

• Manage the classroom environment in the absence of the regular teacher.
• Ensure that students are engaged in learning activities, maintain discipline, and uphold the school's behavior policies.
• Deliver pre-prepared lesson plans and materials from the absent teacher, facilitating student engagement through guided activities, answering questions, and providing assistance as required, maintaining a conducive learning environment.
• Oversee student work during the lesson, ensuring that students stay on task and complete assigned activities.
• Provide support and encouragement to students who require assistance, while also monitoring behavior and managing any disruptions.
• Ensure the safety and well-being of students by adhering to health and safety procedures and protocols.

Requirements:

• Experience in a similar role with secondary school children or within an educational setting is preferred but not required.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
• Having relevant qualifications or training in education, childcare, or a related field is a plus.
• Currently residing in the UK.
• Enhanced Child Workforce DBS on the Update Service.
• Passion for education and student support.
