Job Title: SEMH Primary Teaching Assistant (SEMH TA)
Location: Chesterfield
Salary Range: £95 - £100 per day (Depending on experience)
Start time: Immediate
Contract: Full Time

GSL Education seeks a compassionate and experienced SEMH Primary Teaching Assistant to join a specialist school in Chesterfield.

Responsibilities of the SEMH Primary Teaching Assistant (SEMH TA):

• Provide 1:1 and small group support to primary-aged students with SEMH needs.
• Assist in managing behaviour positively, using de-escalation strategies.
• Support students with their academic, emotional, and social development.
• Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals to implement individual learning plans (IEPs).
• Create a nurturing and safe learning environment for all pupils.
• Help students build confidence, self-esteem, and emotional resilience.
• Drive between school locations when required (driver essential).

Requirements of the SEMH Primary Teaching Assistant (SEMH TA):

• Experience working with children with SEMH needs (in a school or care setting).
• A patient, calm, and supportive approach.
• Strong behaviour management skills and experience using positive reinforcement techniques.
• Ability to build trusting relationships with students who may have experienced trauma or difficulties.
• Must be a driver with access to a vehicle (essential for travel between locations).
• A commitment to safeguarding and promoting student welfare.
• Understanding of various SEN conditions.
• Have an updated CV and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one).
