• 12.21 - 13.25 per hr 37.5 hours per week

School Staffing Solutions is recruiting Teaching Assistants to work in an independent special needs school located in Lyndhurst, the New Forest.

We are seeking Teaching Assistants with a natural ability to build positive relationships with children and young people, particularly those young people who have experienced trauma. If you can demonstrate the values needed for the role and possess transferable skills and life experience, the school will provide you with all the training and support necessary for your growth!

This a TEMP TO PERM opportunity and we need applicants who can start straight away subject to vetting checks.

The school has an excellent reputation for providing effective education, care, therapy, welfare, and support for pupils aged 5 to 16 years old who have social and emotional needs and may struggle to regulate their behaviour. Some pupils may also have additional needs commonly associated with autistic spectrum conditions.

About the role:

• The successful candidate will work alongside the class teacher, assisting children with their work
• Supporting positive pupil behaviour, using techniques and strategies to teach the children ways to re-regulate their behaviour when in crisis
• Establishing strong trusting relationships with the children and help re-engage them in learning when they have lost interest
• You will serve as a role model and respond to individual needs.

About You:

• The desire to help young people and make a difference
• GCSE Maths and English at Level 4/Grade C or equivalent.
• Previous experience supporting children and young people is preferred.
• Experience working with challenging behaviour and/or special educational needs (SEN) is desirable.
• Effective communication with young people is essential to understand their needs.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills are crucial for relaying important information to other
• The school supports some of the most vulnerable children in society who have varying degrees of emotional and behavioural difficulties so you will need to show resilience and compassion.
