The Role – PRU Teaching Assistant

We are looking for a proactive and resilient PRU Teaching Assistant to join a nurturing secondary PRU in Lewisham. In this role, you will work closely with students aged 11–16 who have been referred to the provision due to behavioural challenges, SEMH needs, or barriers to learning that could not be supported in a mainstream setting.

You will provide tailored 1:1 interventions and small group support, helping students to regulate their behaviour, engage positively with learning, and build their confidence. The ideal candidate will have experience working with students who present with SEMH, ADHD, trauma, and other complex needs.

Your calm, consistent, and empathetic approach will play a vital role in helping students make meaningful progress in this alternative provision.

Situated in the London Borough of Lewisham, this well-resourced secondary PRU caters to approximately 99 students aged 11–16 with a range of SEMH needs, ADHD, and often complex backgrounds involving trauma.
