The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join a leading engineering consultancy supporting major long-nuclear decommissioning programmes. You will play a key role in delivering complex mechanical solutions within a challenging, highly regulated environment.

Your duties and responsibilities will be

Develop and specify mechanical handling systems and equipment, including lifting and crane solutions for critical environments

Produce engineering designs for specialised components such as shielding systems, process tanks, vessels, and pipework used for material transfer and storage

Contribute to early-stage project development, including concept design work and preparation of engineering documentation for risk assessments such as HAZOPs

Support the design and integration of both standard and bespoke remotely operated equipment for handling complex materials

Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure designs align with project requirements, including infrastructure services and site constraintsYou will have the following qualifications and experience

Degree-qualified in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline, or equivalent experience

Extensive experience working in a highly regulated sector, with strong preference for nuclear or similar industries

Proven expertise in designing mechanical systems, mechanisms, or bespoke equipment for complex engineering environments

Strong understanding of relevant regulations, standards, and best practice relating to safety, quality, and compliance

Self-motivated with the ability to manage workload effectively and deliver results within programme and budget constraintsGet in touch now
