About ASEND Teaching Assistants
We are looking for confident SEN Teaching Assistants to support children and young people with SEND in Barnet. We support pupils with SEND who are struggling to engage in the classroom or who are not attending school for a number of reasons including a lack of a suitable school place. We aim to prepare them for a return to mainstream or special school. Our Teaching Assistants get a wide experience of pupils either in schools or as part of a small team outside of school assisting a tutor.
We work with pupils of all ages face-to-face within school times, and in a range of settings including schools, community centres, homes and out in the community. We need a wide range of SEND Teaching Assistants to support our pupils to meet their specific needs and ensure good progress. We work very hard to match each tutor with pupils who can most benefit from their skills and expertise.
About Our Young Person
We are looking for a TA to support a 13-year-old boy who will work alongside a tutor to support his learning and development. He is autistic and is also diagnosed with ADHD. He is an affectionate pupil who is keen to develop his relationships with others. He likes listening to music and water play. We would love to have someone to develop his learning around his interests.
A TA who has experience developing structured learning around a child’s interests and passions would be ideal, as this would help the pupil engage with the content. The TA will also play a major part in developing his social awareness. A TA with training in nonverbal communication like Makaton and PECS would also be helpful to the team.
