I am recruiting for a local authority who is looking for someone to be responsible for planning, delivering and supporting the leadership of high quality centre based youth work from our youth hubs, estate based youth clubs and via detached outreach work.

Job Role

To work towards the achievement of better outcomes for children, young people and families by:

Providing a high quality, effective and responsive early help and preventative services for children and young people in Hackney.

Giving children and young people opportunities and encouragement to get involved in activities that complement and enhance their physical and emotional wellbeing, and which support their educational attainment and transition to employment.

Providing additional support as required at critical times and stages of a young person's development.

Supporting young people to do things for themselves individually and collectively and to be active participants in their community.

The Youth Support and Development Worker is responsible and accountable for the planning delivery and evaluation of high quality open access and targeted programmes of youth work alongside individualised support, primarily delivered through Youth Hubs, and via outreach in schools and community settings.

This requires effective liaison and partnership working across a wide range of stakeholders, including but not limited to: Children's Social Care, Health, Education, Youth Justice and the voluntary community and private sectors.

All staff are expected to provide services at the times that young people are available; principally after school, evenings and weekends A professional or occupational qualification (e.g. youth work, teaching, social work, or health) is desirable, and applicants should have a clear understanding of evidence based practice, youth work methodology and effective practice in youth participation and children's rights. Your communication skills, energy and professional approach will enable you to quickly establish positive rapport with young people and stakeholders. With experience in the delivery of tailored interventions, targeted group work and youth work, you will be committed to improving young people's well-being and addressing concerns such as crime, educational engagement or sexually harmful behaviour. Dynamic, innovative and passionate, you'll bring your knowledge and understanding of child and adolescent development to the challenge of working with vulnerable children and young people and be able to demonstrate continuing professional development
