Description: The Community News Writer will source, research, and write a regular supply of news stories that are distributed to games press and community media to increase the volume of news articles around the franchise. Key accountabilities The Community News Writer will focus on writing a high volume of short-form stories by sourcing interesting stories from the community and beyond. This content will supplement existing news stories around key content updates and live events. Working closely with the Senior Community Manager, Editorial Lead and Creator Engagement team, this role will index heavily on spotlighting and uplifting stories from around our player base, as well as bolstering the volume of content we publish around our extended universe and franchise-based endeavors. This role will also own the schedule and distribution of these stories, using appropriate tools and partners to deliver and amplify these articles. Key content types include interesting and memorable stories covering: Celebrate players coming together outside the game by covering news from our Affiliate Alliance partners, fan-sites and fan-run events. Also cover ongoing hot topics in the community and its discursive spaces (forums, Discord, Reddit). Showcase player and community creativity, sharing the best fan-art, fan fiction, music, memes and clips that are produced by our players. Provide coverage of the creator ecosystem around sharing memorable stream highlights, clips or videos that showcase the game in the right way and inspire others to creatively use the game’s sandbox. Find inspiring and memorable player stories from within the community, covering everything from interesting and heart-warming encounters in the game, moments of skill and mastery or human interest stories that showcase the human side of the game.
