We have an exciting opportunity to join Provider Services as part of a Discharge from Care project for Trafford Council.
In this role you will have responsibility for undertaking assessments where the plan is to discharge the care order for children who are placed with connected persons foster carers, where the permanence plan is that of special guardianship orders for cared for children.
You will not be the case-holding social worker for children allocated to you.
Key Skills and Responsibilities
Undertake assessments of discharge of care orders and special guardianship assessments Strong assessment and report writing skills while adhering to timescales agreed at the permanence panel
Ability to work at pace and manage a workload of 10-12 children/families Present cases in court and provide evidence if and when required
Collaborate with practice manager, childrens social workers and other team members across our wider childrens services Participate in the fostering duty rota, sharing responsibilities on a 5-week basis
You will be an experienced practitioner who can demonstrate excellent assessment skills, completing special guardianship assessments, discharge statements and other court statements.
You will have significant experience of court work and be skilled in working alongside colleagues across the different childrens social care teams to ensure that the best outcomes are achieved for our cared for children. You will support court applications through written evidence and attendance at court.
You will need to be a reflective practitioner with a passion for striving for the best outcomes for young people who are cared for. Your style and approach will reflect our core values and behaviours and you will have a commitment to ongoing learning and development. You will manage your own caseload with the support of the practice manager and will have strong planning, recording and time management skills. Y
You will have a strong drive to work in partnership with children's social workers, foster carers, solicitors and IRO's. You will seek to develop as a social worker to strive and support the team and wider services in delivery of bespoke training/inputs regarding permanence planning and court skills, taking full opportunity of the wealth of training available to support you.
Essential Requirements:
Social Work Qualification - Degree or equivalent
At least 2 years' experience as a social worker within children's services
Social Work England Registration
Driving license and access to own vehicle
