Lead Permit Engineer
Location: Cumbria ,CA20 1PG
Salary: £35.10 p/h PAYE / £46.14 p/h Umbrella (inside IR35)
Term: Ends in June 2025
The role: Exciting opportunity for a skilled Lead Permit Engineer lasting over 12 months on a contract basis, within the nuclear sector. In a large industry which could offer a wide range of different career opportunities for yourself.
Duties/Responsibilities may include:
To function as part of a multi-disciplined team to energize, isolate and commission specific Systems / Equipment in a safe, effective and timely manner
To prepare, issue and close Safe Systems of Work
Ensure all Permit Office activities are carried out in accordance with all Site Licence, Environmental, Regulatory and Industry requirements, including HSG250 and HSG253
Ensuring a proactive and balanced approach to safety (Nuclear, Environmental and Conventional) to ensure that Permit Office safety is optimized during commissioning
Advise and support the Permit Office Manager in confirming that plant and equipment can be safely energized to carry out meaningful testing
Carrying out all Permit Office activities in line with the approved test documentation and relevant Commissioning Management Procedures
Maintain all documentation associated with Permit Office activities
Ensure all Permit Office test equipment is calibrated and has certification
Carry out all energisation and isolation activities in a safe, effective and timely manner through all stages of commissioning
Liaise with all supporting functions including Site Construction and Operations Teams to complete energistics and isolations effectively
Maintain a close working relationship with the engineers involved with interfacing systems and areas
Communicate technical information within own areas of expertise to a wide variety of supporting functions through the use of reports etc
To assist in the development of plans, strategies and programmes in support of efficient and effective Permit Office activities
To provide input as a Key Stakeholder to the Risk Assessment process.Skills, experience & qualifications:
Appropriate technical qualification (C&G, ONC, HNC) in an engineering discipline
Has had previous experience as a Permit Engineer in the commissioning of nuclear or similar plants
The ability to obtain BC is essential or the Role
Competent in the use of standard Microsoft IT packages e.g. Word and Exce
