Role Overview:
Our client is seeking a highly skilled substation welder to assist on a project aimed at enhancing the stability of the National Grid infrastructure.
The Welder will be responsible for welding and fabricating aluminium components for the substation enclosure, as well as performing exothermic welding for earthing connections.
This role requires proficiency in both MIG welding for aluminium and aluminothermic (exothermic) welding techniques for grounding and earthing.
The Welder will work closely with other construction and engineering team members to ensure the successful installation of the synchronous condensers, as well as disconnectors, switchgears, transformers, busbars.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform MIG welding on aluminium components for the substation enclosure.
Conduct aluminothermic welding for earthing and grounding connections.
Ensure all welding work meets industry standards and project specifications.
Follow all safety guidelines and regulations, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
Qualifications and Experience:
Valid welding certificate for aluminium welding (MIG).
Certifications or qualifications in aluminothermic welding techniques for earthing connections.
Proven experience in both aluminium and exothermic welding, particularly in a construction or industrial setting.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in welding for electrical substations or similar infrastructure projects.
