Rotating shifts between 7:00am and 7:30pm

Job Purpose

We are seeking a Sample Reception Technician to join a busy laboratory operation supporting the receipt, logging, and preparation of samples for testing. This role is critical to ensuring samples are accurately tracked, stored, and distributed to laboratory teams in a timely and compliant manner. The position offers a temp-to-perm pathway with strong long-term prospects.

Key Responsibilities

Receiving, checking, and booking in samples delivered to the laboratory

Accurately labelling, logging, and registering samples onto internal systems

Ensuring samples are handled, stored, and prepared in line with procedures

Liaising with laboratory teams to prioritise and distribute samples for testing

Identifying and reporting any discrepancies, damaged samples, or incomplete information

Maintaining accurate records and traceability of all received samples

Ensuring compliance with health & safety and quality standards

Keeping the sample reception area clean, organised, and efficient

Skills & Experience Required

Previous experience in sample reception, laboratory support, logistics, or a similar role (desirable but not essential)

High attention to detail and ability to accurately record information

Basic IT skills and confidence using computer systems

Good organisational and time-management skills

Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment

Strong communication and teamwork skills

Willingness to work rotating shifts and a Tuesday-Saturday rota
