Pre‑Construction Manager

📍 Location: Chesterfield (Hybrid Working)

💼 Type: Contract

💰 Salary: £220 - £280 a day - Open to discussion

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Pre‑Construction Manager to support the early-stage delivery of major projects, with a strong focus on planning, governance, and programme management.

Based out of our Chesterfield office with hybrid working available, you will play a key role in shaping projects from feasibility through to construction handover. This role is ideal for someone with strong leadership capability, structured pre‑construction experience, and a background in regulated environments.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and manage pre‑construction activities from project inception through to construction readiness

Develop and manage project programmes, ensuring alignment with delivery milestones

Oversee design, cost, risk, and planning activities during the pre‑construction phase

Ensure full compliance with CDM 2015 regulations, acting as a key point of coordination

Support governance processes and ensure quality, safety, and programme controls are embedded

Coordinate with internal teams, consultants, and external stakeholders

Provide leadership and structure to early-stage project planning and mobilisation

Essential Qualifications & Experience

Project Management qualification (e.g. PRINCE2, APM, PMP or equivalent)

Formal Pre‑Construction training

Strong working knowledge of CDM 2015

Level 4 Leadership qualification or above

Proven experience in programme management

Experience working in structured, regulated project environments

Desirable Experience

Background in the solar, renewables, utilities, or wider energy sector

Experience working on infrastructure or large-scale capital projects

Familiarity with multidisciplinary design and construction teams
