Role: Handyperson/Escort

Location: HMP Isle of Wight

Standard Rate: 13.38

Duration: 12 weeks initially, with the opportunity to be extended

Typical hours: 30 hours per week over 4 days.

8:00 to 17:00, Monday to Wednesday and 08:00 - 15:00 on Thursday

We are currently recruiting for a Handyperson/Escort to work at HMP Isle of Wight. This dual-role position involves performing basic maintenance tasks, including fire alarm testing, while also supporting the security team by escorting and monitoring contractors such as electricians, plumbers, and carpenters working across the prison estate.

Other duties will include but not be limited to:

• Basic maintenance tasks across the site
• Fire alarm testing
• Escorting and supervising external contractors
• Searching visitors and buildings
• Checking identification and tools
• Handling radios and routine administrative duties

About You:

• Experience using various for e.g. Power tools
• Be safety conscious
• Have been living in the UK for the past 3+ years

Due to the nature of the environment, you will be asked to complete the standard Security Vetting for the establishments.
