Test Lead

Contract Length: ASAP - 18 December 2026 +

Location: Remote within the UK, with travel every fortnight to London or Manchester. Base location will be the nearest client office. Travel expenses covered for travel to offices other than your base location.

Clearance / Eligibility: Must be a UK citizen, based in the UK, with a minimum of 5 years UK residency.

The Opportunity

We're looking for an experienced Test Lead to oversee testing activities for a large-scale application refactoring and migration programme within the client. This is a key role supporting the successful transformation of critical applications as part of the wider LTD Programme.

You'll work closely with client teams, end client stakeholders, and a broader programme delivery team to define and execute robust testing strategies that ensure successful migration outcomes. This is an opportunity to lead testing on a high-profile government programme, helping shape quality assurance across complex technical change.

What You'll Be Doing

As the Test Lead, you will take ownership of end-to-end testing activity across the programme, ensuring applications are thoroughly tested and ready for migration.

Key responsibilities include:

Leading test activities for a major application refactoring and migration programme

Defining and implementing test strategies and test plans aligned to programme objectives

Managing and coordinating test execution phases, ensuring quality standards are met

Working directly with the clients, and wider programme stakeholders to align testing approaches and delivery timelines

Supporting the successful migration of key applications through robust quality assurance practices

Identifying risks, issues, and dependencies related to testing and driving resolution

Collaborating with programme teams to assure technical implementation and application readiness

Providing oversight, reporting, and assurance across testing activities throughout the delivery lifecycle

Must Have Skills & Experience

To be successful in this role, you'll need:

Proven experience leading test execution activities for migration programmes

Strong experience defining test strategies and test plans within large-scale environments

Demonstrated ability to lead testing across complex transformation or refactoring programmes

Experience working within large, multi-stakeholder programme teams

Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work directly with client teams and technical delivery teams

Experience managing multiple testing phases and ensuring successful delivery outcomes

Nice-to-Have Skills

Experience working on public sector or government transformation programmes

Familiarity with large-scale application refactoring or legacy modernisation initiatives

Experience working in highly regulated or secure delivery environments

Exposure to enterprise-scale testing methodologies and migration assurance frameworks
