Role Summary
• Provide senior leadership across financial performance, controls, and finance transformation.
• Stabilise finance delivery, set clear priorities, and bring pace and structure to execution.
• Restore and maintain confidence in management reporting, forecasting, and decision support.
• Operate as a high-influence, visible leader with strong judgement and executive presence.
• Drive clarity during ambiguity, balancing commercial outcomes with risk and regulatory expectations.
Key Objectives
• Stabilise and improve the quality and timeliness of reporting and forecasting.
• Strengthen governance, controls, and audit readiness across the finance function.
• Improve delivery cadence, accountability, and performance across finance teams.
• Shape and accelerate transformation activity with measurable benefits and clear ownership.
• Provide clear financial narratives that enable executive decision-making.
Scorecard Responsibilities
• Performance Leadership
o Own the narrative for monthly results, forecasting, and key performance drivers.
o Lead the planning and forecasting cycle, improving accuracy and transparency of assumptions.
o Identify trends, risks, and opportunities, translating data into actionable insight.
o Ensure clear performance management routines and consistent KPI definitions.
o Support executives with scenario planning and trade-off decisions.
• Control Leadership
o Strengthen financial governance, controls, and compliance across the business.
o Ensure robust risk management, including controls testing, issue remediation, and oversight.
o Drive audit readiness through evidence-based processes, documentation discipline, and clear ownership.
o Review and improve key controls around financial reporting, month-end, and approvals.
o Challenge unacceptable financial and operational risk exposure, escalating when required.
• Team Leadership
o Set direction and priorities for finance leaders and teams.
o Establish clear expectations, accountability, and measurable delivery outcomes.
o Improve delivery cadence through structured routines, action tracking, and decision forums.
o Coach and support leaders to raise standards, pace, and stakeholder confidence.
o Address capability gaps quickly, reshaping roles, ways of working, or resourcing where needed.
• Transformation Leadership
o Shape and steer finance transformation programmes, ensuring alignment to business strategy.
o Define benefits, measures, and tracking to ensure benefits realisation is achieved.
o Remove blockers quickly and resolve cross-functional issues impacting delivery.
o Improve processes, systems, and operating model where they affect performance or control.
o Drive pragmatic change that delivers measurable outcomes within the contract period.
Stakeholder and Governance Engagement
• Engage executives, governance forums, and risk stakeholders with a calm, evidence-led approach.
• Provide clear options, recommendations, and trade-offs, backed by data and risk considerations.
• Challenge decisions where financial impact, control weakness, or risk exposure is not acceptable.
• Build confidence through transparent communication, consistent reporting, and timely escalation.
What We’re Looking For
• Proven leadership at Finance Director level (or equivalent senior finance leadership role).
• Strong track record delivering transformation, turnaround, or control improvement programmes.
• Demonstrated ability to stabilise teams and mobilise delivery quickly in fast-paced environments.
• High confidence operating in regulated and governance-led organisations.
• Strong executive presence with the ability to influence, challenge, and drive decisions at pace.
