Technical Business Analyst / Custom Software Engineer (API & Integration)

💰 £400 per day (Umbrella)

📅 Contract: 12 months

The Opportunity

We're seeking a hybrid Technical Business Analyst / Custom Software Engineer to join a high-performing Software Engineering team delivering a critical healthcare programme for UK Health.

This role sits at the intersection of analysis, engineering, and delivery, giving you the opportunity to shape API-driven solutions, support design and implementation, and ensure high-quality integration across systems.

Key Responsibilities

Work closely with engineering teams to design, analyse, and support delivery of API-led solutions

Translate business requirements into technical specifications, workflows, and integration designs

Produce clear documentation including sequence diagrams and API usage guides

Support the development and validation of RESTful APIs

Test APIs using tools such as Postman and verify implementations against specifications

Contribute to data mapping and integration between systems

Ensure effective processing and ingestion of data across interoperable platforms

Provide technical input into solution design, ensuring alignment with architectural standards

Collaborate with stakeholders, challenging solutions where necessary to maintain quality and compliance

Support delivery activities across the project lifecycle in an agile environment

Skills & Experience Required

Experience in a Technical Business Analyst, Software Engineer, or hybrid role

Strong understanding of RESTful APIs and integration patterns

Hands-on experience with API testing tools (e.g. Postman)

Knowledge of HTTP, networking, and certificates

Experience with data mapping, system integration, and database concepts

Ability to create technical documentation and workflow diagrams

Understanding of interoperability and data exchange between systems

Strong communication skills with the ability to engage and challenge stakeholders

Experience working in Agile or delivery-focused environments
