General Operative - Summer Temporary Opportunities

£13.47 per hour

37 hours per week (weekend work included)

Temporary contract: 15th July - 15th August

Overview of the Role

We are seeking a high volume of General Operatives to assist Belfast City Council with short-term operational support throughout the summer months.

The roles will be based across multiple sites in Belfast, contributing to vital environmental maintenance and public space services.

This is a great opportunity for individuals looking for full-time, short-duration work with regular hours and weekly pay.

Main Duties

Undertaking general cleansing and environmental maintenance across public spaces

Supporting refuse operations, litter clearance, and street cleaning activities

Assisting with basic grounds maintenance and outdoor manual tasks

Working across parks, streets, council buildings, and open areas

Helping to maintain clean, safe, and presentable public environments

Adhering to all Health & Safety guidelines and correct PPE usage

Collaborating with team members to complete assigned daily routes and duties

What We're Looking For

We are interested in hearing from candidates who are:

Dependable, punctual, and physically capable of manual outdoor work

Comfortable working as part of a team and following instructions

Willing to work outdoors in varying weather conditions

Aware of and committed to Health & Safety practices

Previous experience in cleaning, landscaping, grounds maintenance, or similar roles is helpful but not essential

Additional Details

Full-time role: 37 hours per week

Day shifts with some weekend working required

Multiple positions available across Belfast

Candidates must be available for immediate start within the contract period
