Infrastructure Architect

Wokingham / Hybrid - 2 days work from home

4 months initial contract

559 per day inside IR35

We are seeking an experienced DNS Architect to join a growing infrastructure and cloud technology team. This is an exciting opportunity to take ownership of the design, security, and evolution of critical DNS services that support large-scale enterprise and cloud environments.

As the DNS subject matter expert, you will be responsible for defining architecture standards, driving automation, enhancing security, and ensuring the resilience and performance of core naming services. You will work closely with network, cloud, infrastructure, and security teams to deliver scalable and secure DNS solutions that support business-critical operations.

• Designing and implementing enterprise-scale DNS architectures across on-premises, hybrid, and cloud environments.
• Managing and optimising DNS services, including zones, delegations, and name resolution processes.
• Defining standards, governance, and best practices for DNS services.
• Implementing security controls including DNSSEC, threat protection, and DDoS mitigation.
• Leading DNS migrations, upgrades, and transformation initiatives.
• Monitoring DNS performance, availability, and resilience, driving continuous improvements where required.
• Acting as the technical escalation point for complex DNS and network-related issues.
• Developing automation solutions using scripting and Infrastructure as Code technologies.
• Collaborating with infrastructure, cloud, and cyber security teams to deliver secure and reliable services.

• Strong experience designing and supporting enterprise DNS environments.
• Expert knowledge of DNS protocols, architecture, and troubleshooting.
• Hands-on experience with technologies such as BIND, Microsoft DNS, Infoblox, AWS Route 53, Azure DNS, or Google Cloud DNS.
• Strong understanding of DNSSEC, DHCP, IPAM, and DNS security best practices.
• Solid networking knowledge covering TCP/IP, routing, firewalls, and load balancing.
• Experience with automation and scripting using Python, PowerShell, or Bash.
• Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or ARM templates.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.

• Experience working within large, complex, or highly regulated environments.
• Cloud networking and hybrid infrastructure experience.
• Relevant networking, cloud, or infrastructure certifications.
