Quantity Surveyor / Midlands / 12 Month Contract / Inside IR35
What you’ll be doing
* Provide comprehensive commercial support to the Project Manager in the management and administration of all contractual relationships entered into comprising the project works and services, utilising the Post Contract Management Toolkit (PCMT) to ensure a standard approach across the Contracts team.
* Support the Commercial team, when deemed necessary, with work relating to current tender events.
* Provide advice to the Project Manager on the content of contractual correspondence.
* Manage receipt and issue of contractual administration requirements in accordance with the range of individual contracts on a project e.g. Early Warnings, Project Managers Instructions, Compensation Events, Variation Orders etc., via use of the agreed contractual administration platform, which will be Conject unless agreed otherwise at contract award.
* Monitor, report and submit MWC finances for inclusion in the MPSR. A monthly review of the MPSR should be undertaken to explain any movement the Contracts team is accountable for.
* Facilitate the continual development of Risk Register with the Project Manager
* Validate payment applications and preparation of contractual payment certification, ensuring the processes defined in the PCMT are followed to give a consistent approach across the Contracts team.
* Review and challenge of spend to date transactional data, such as invoices, to ensure compliance with project scope. Approved spend should be processed as per the appropriate payment method.
* Preparation and completion of commercial records for archiving purposes.
* Support the Project Manager by producing the financial/commercial close out report, to be incorporated into the PM’s final Project Closeout Report.
* Undertake auditing of contractor records with sufficient scrutiny and at the required intervals, as stated in the PCMT.
* To attend the necessary meetings, as stated in the Works Information.
* Monitor, on a monthly cycle, spend (forecast and to date) against all open Purchase Orders (PO). Recognise the need for new PO’s to be raised or existing ones uplifted. Ensure that the PO’s are actioned in a timely manner by the relevant approvers and through the appropriate process.
Key requirements & experience
Essential:
* Proven experience in the utilities, construction, infrastructure (or similar) industry, with a deep understanding of its unique challenges.
* Expertise in NEC3 and NEC4 contracts (especially options A, C & E), including NEC Two Stage Contract experience.
* Ability to foster a culture of openness, trust, and collaboration.
* Commitment to driving innovation and efficiencies.
Desirable:
* Category experience (pipeline (civils background) / Compressors (mechanical engineering background))
* Tier 1 contractor experience as a Main Works Contractor
