SEN Teaching Assistant - PMLD

Location: Lambeth, South London

Start Date: September 2026

Contract: Full-time, Term Time Only

The Role

A specialist SEN school in Lambeth is seeking a committed and experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team from September. The role involves supporting students with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), helping them to access education in a safe, supportive, and structured environment.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with relevant experience who is passionate about working with pupils with complex needs.

Key Responsibilities

Provide 1:1 and small group support for students with PMLD

Assist with personal care, maintaining dignity and safeguarding at all times

Support students with PEG feeding in line with care plans and training

Work closely with teaching staff and multidisciplinary teams

Support learning, communication, and sensory development

Help create a positive and inclusive classroom environment

Requirements

Essential:

Experience supporting children or young people with PMLD

Experience with PEG feeding

Experience providing personal careDesirable:

Previous experience in an SEN school or similar settingSkills:

Patient, calm, and caring approach

Strong communication and teamwork skills

Commitment to safeguarding and child welfare

Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff
