About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and proactive Site Manager to oversee a commercial refurbishment and restoration project within a heritage listed building. This is a contract position requiring a highly motivated individual who can take ownership of site operations while maintaining the highest standards of quality, safety, and workmanship.
The successful candidate will be a hands on Site Manager who is comfortable leading from the front, coordinating trades, solving problems on site, and ensuring the project is delivered safely, on time, and within budget.
Key Responsibilities
* Day-to-day management of site activities and subcontractors.
* Coordinate and supervise all construction works in line with project programmes.
* Ensure compliance with heritage conservation requirements and project specifications.
* Maintain high standards of health, safety, and environmental compliance.
* Conduct site inspections, toolbox talks, and progress meetings.
* Monitor quality control and ensure workmanship meets required standards.
* Manage site logistics, deliveries, and material coordination.
* Liaise with clients, consultants, conservation officers, and project stakeholders.
* Identify and resolve site issues efficiently to minimise programme delays.
* Assist with hands-on site activities where required to keep works progressing.
Requirements
* Proven experience as a Site Manager on commercial construction projects.
* Previous experience working on heritage, listed, or conservation-sensitive buildings is highly desirable.
* Strong understanding of refurbishment, restoration, and fit-out works.
* SMSTS certification.
* Valid CSCS Card.
* First Aid at Work certification.
* Excellent organisational, communication, and leadership skills.
* Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
* Strong problem-solving abilities and a practical, hands-on approach.
