About the Role
Raynet Recruitment is seeking an experienced and highly skilled Registered Nurse (RGN) to provide clinical leadership and oversight for an individual with complex epilepsy needs. The successful candidate will have experience in managing intractable epilepsy and Vagus Nerve Stimulation (VNS) therapy within community or home care settings.
This role focuses on the delegation, training, assessment, and governance of specialist epilepsy-related clinical tasks to care workers, ensuring safe, effective, and person-centred care delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess, plan, implement, and review care for an individual with intractable epilepsy and VNS therapy.
- Develop and maintain detailed care plans, risk assessments, and clinical protocols.
- Deliver training to care workers on epilepsy management, seizure recognition, emergency procedures, rescue medication, and VNS management.
- Assess and document care worker competence before delegating clinical tasks.
- Provide ongoing clinical supervision, monitoring, and governance of delegated nursing tasks.
- Conduct regular reviews and competency reassessments to ensure safe practice.
- Liaise with families, healthcare professionals, neurologists, and multidisciplinary teams.
- Maintain accurate clinical records and ensure compliance with CQC, NMC, and safeguarding requirements.
- Support continuous improvement and quality assurance activities.
Essential Requirements
- Current NMC registration as a Registered General Nurse (RGN).
- Experience supporting individuals with complex epilepsy and seizure management.
- Knowledge and practical experience of Vagus Nerve Stimulation (VNS).
- Experience developing care plans, risk assessments, and clinical governance frameworks.
- Ability to train, mentor, and assess care staff competency.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and documentation skills.
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
Desirable
- Community nursing or complex care experience.
- Teaching or assessor qualification.
- Experience working within domiciliary care or supported living services.
