A welcoming and inclusive mainstream primary school in Slough is seeking a dedicated Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant to join their team from September 2026. This full-time position is ideal for a recent graduate who is passionate about child development, learning, behaviour, and supporting pupils to achieve their full potential.

The school is particularly interested in applications from graduates who have studied at a UK university, with Russell Group graduates strongly encouraged to apply.

The Role

As a Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will support pupils across Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2, working closely with teachers and the SEN team to provide academic, behavioural, social, and emotional support.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting pupils with additional learning needs within the classroom.
  • Providing 1:1 and small group interventions.
  • Assisting children with Autism (ASD), ADHD, Speech and Language needs, and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
  • Supporting behaviour management strategies and emotional regulation.
  • Helping pupils develop confidence, resilience, and independence.
  • Building positive relationships with pupils to encourage engagement in learning.
  • Supporting teachers with classroom activities and learning resources.
  • Monitoring pupil progress and providing feedback to teaching staff.

This Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant role provides invaluable experience for graduates considering careers in Educational Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Child Psychology, Mental Health, Teaching, or Therapy professions.

The School

This successful mainstream primary school in Slough has a strong commitment to inclusion and pupil wellbeing. The school provides a supportive environment where children are encouraged to develop academically, socially, and emotionally.

Staff work collaboratively to ensure all pupils receive the support they need, making this an excellent opportunity for a Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant to gain first-hand experience working with children with a range of learning and behavioural needs.

Candidate Requirements

To be considered for this Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant role, you must have:

  • A Psychology degree from a UK university.
  • A strong understanding of child development and behaviour.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A genuine passion for education and supporting children.
  • The ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff.
  • A proactive, patient, and professional attitude.

Russell Group graduates are particularly encouraged to apply.

Previous experience working with children, young people, or individuals with additional needs is desirable but not essential.

Why Apply?
  • Full-time role from September 2026.
  • Gain valuable experience before pursuing postgraduate study or professional training.
  • Work alongside experienced teachers, SENCOs, and support staff.
  • Develop behaviour management and intervention skills.
  • Excellent opportunity for aspiring Educational Psychologists, Teachers, Therapists, and Mental Health Professionals.
