Financial Accountant (Contract) - Year-end Accounts Project

Location: Hybrid working - 3 days office-based, 2 days working from home

Office Location: Derby (applicants must be within a reasonable commuting distance)

Rate: £250 per day (Outside IR35)

Contract: Project assignment 6 months

The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Accountant to support a statutory accounts project for a well-established organisation. This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented finance professional who enjoys working with complex financial information and can efficiently manage large volumes of data.

The successful candidate will play a key role in the preparation and compilation of a set of statutory accounts, working closely with the finance team to ensure accuracy, completeness, and timely delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the preparation and completion of statutory accounts.
• Assist with year-end financial reporting activities.
• Analyse, reconcile, and interpret large and complex data sets.
• Extract, manipulate, and validate financial information from multiple sources.
• Ensure accounting records and disclosures are accurate and compliant.
• Work collaboratively with stakeholders across the finance function.
• Identify and resolve data quality and reconciliation issues.

Requirements

• Proven experience in an Accountant, Financial Accountant, or similar role.
• Strong year-end accounting and financial reporting experience.
• Experience preparing or supporting statutory accounts.
• Advanced Excel skills, including complex formulas, pivot tables, lookups, and data analysis techniques.
• Ability to digest and interpret large volumes of financial data quickly and accurately.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to work independently.
