We are seeking a multi-skilled Database Administrator with proven hands-on experience across database platform, and database platform, preferably in hybrid and multi-cloud environments (public cloud platform). The ideal candidate will have a balanced mix of cloud-native DB administration, on-premise DB optimization, and cross-platform migration experience.
This role focuses on supporting enterprise-level systems, with database platform as the strategic database engine, and requires working collaboratively with development and infrastructure teams to ensure availability, performance, and scalability of data platforms.
Key Responsibilities
Cloud-Based & On-Prem DB Administration: Administer, configure, and optimise database platform, and database platform databases hosted in public cloud platform, and on-premises.
Database Design & Development: Design new schemas, optimise existing structures, and support database components aligned with application needs.
Performance Tuning: Monitor and tune query and system performance across database platform, and database platform DBs. Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks.
Backup & Disaster Recovery: Define and implement robust backup/recovery procedures for multi-DB environments across different platforms and cloud providers.
Security & Compliance: Implement access controls, encryption, auditing, and ensure compliance with data protection standards.
Cloud Automation & Scalability: Automate database operations using cloud-native tools and scripting (e.g., infrastructure-as-code tooling, Ansible, public cloud platform cloud-native service/cloud-native service tools, public cloud platform SQL automation).
Monitoring & Health Checks: Utilize tools such as monitoring and observability tooling, public cloud platform Monitor, OEM, or monitoring and observability tooling to monitor performance and availability.
Troubleshooting & Root Cause Analysis: Diagnose and resolve database incidents; conduct RCAs for critical incidents and outages.
Collaboration: Work closely with DevOps, Application, and Security teams for seamless integration, monitoring, and support.
Required Skills & Experience
Hands-on with public cloud platform (RDS, EC2, Aurora) and/or public cloud platform (SQL Database, Managed Instances).
database platform (preferred) – schema design, indexing, replication, extensions
database platform – Always On, indexing, query tuning, backups
database platform/19c – RAC, Data Guard, ASM, RMAN, patching, performance tuning
SQL & Scripting: Advanced SQL skills; Shell/Python scripting for automation.
Database Design & Data Modelling: Experience with OLTP and OLAP systems, normalization, and warehousing concepts.
Monitoring Tools: monitoring and observability tooling, public cloud platform Monitor, OEM, Nagios, or equivalent.
Security & DR: Familiarity with encryption (TDE, SSL), auditing, and DR testing.
