Site Maintenance & Yard Operative

Location: South Yorkshire

Hours: Monday to Friday, 08:00 – 17:00 (1-hour unpaid lunch break)

Pay Rate: £13.45 per hour

About the Role

We are looking for a reliable and hands-on Site Maintenance & Yard Operative to support the day-to-day upkeep of a busy operational site. This is a varied role that combines general maintenance, grounds care, housekeeping duties, equipment handling, and vehicle movements.

The successful candidate will play an important part in ensuring the site remains safe, clean, organised, and fully operational.

Key Responsibilities

General Maintenance

*

Carry out minor repair and maintenance work across the site.

*

Complete basic plumbing tasks, including minor leak repairs and replacement of simple fittings.

*

Install and repair fixtures such as shelving, notice boards, blinds, and office fittings.

*

Undertake repairs to doors, fencing, gates, furniture, and other site infrastructure.

*

Assist with painting, decorating, and refurbishment projects when required.

Site & Grounds Upkeep

*

Maintain outdoor areas to a good standard.

*

Perform routine gardening and grounds maintenance tasks.

*

Keep pathways, parking areas, and communal spaces clean and presentable.

*

Support seasonal site maintenance activities.

Waste & Recycling

*

Monitor and manage waste disposal areas.

*

Ensure materials are separated and disposed of correctly.

*

Promote effective recycling practices across the site.

*

Maintain tidy and organised waste storage facilities.

Yard Operations

*

Assist with the movement and positioning of vehicles around the site (training provided).

*

Move equipment, materials, and site assets safely when required.

*

Support general yard activities to ensure smooth daily operations.

Health & Safety

*

Follow all company health and safety procedures.

*

Identify and report hazards, defects, or unsafe conditions.

*

Help maintain a safe working environment for colleagues, visitors, and contractors.

*

Report incidents and safety concerns promptly to management.

Additional Duties

*

Provide support with other site, yard, and maintenance tasks as required.

*

Assist at other company locations when operational needs require.

Candidate Requirements

Essential

*

Full UK driving licence.

*

Ability to undertake physically demanding work.

*

Good practical skills with experience using hand and power tools.

*

Ability to read instructions, complete records, and communicate effectively.

*

Strong organisational skills and ability to manage workloads independently.

*

Good teamwork and communication skills.

*

Flexible approach to duties and occasional travel within the UK.

Desirable

Experience carrying out basic electrical maintenance or repairs.

Counterbalance Forklift Truck licence.

Previous experience in a maintenance, facilities, site operative, or yard-based role
