Are you looking for a full-time role this September that offers the flexibility of day-to-day, ad-hoc supply work while making a lasting difference?

If so, Randstad Education wants to hear from you. We are currently recruiting a proactive SEND Teaching Assistant for an outstanding independent special school site in the Ripon area. Starting in September 2026, this full-time temporary role operates on a day-to-day ad-hoc supply basis, offering an incredible opportunity to work within a highly skilled, multi-disciplinary team.

Position: SEND Teaching Assistant

Location: Ripon Area (Specialist Provision)

Pay Rate: £98 - £140 per day (depending on experience)

Contract Type: Full-time (Monday to Friday, Term-time only)

Start Date: September 2026

About the School

They are a highly regarded, independent special school site catering to children and young people aged 8 to 19 with a primary diagnosis of autism, complex learning deficits, and associated communication difficulties.Set across a beautiful 30-acre rural campus, they focus intensely on providing an environment where students can thrive physically, emotionally, and socially.They pride themselves on a holistic, child-centred approach where education, care, and on-site clinical therapies work hand-in-hand to help students achieve their personal best.The collaborative team there is deeply committed to building strong, trusting relationships, building student resilience, and helping young people successfully transition into the wider world.

Skills Required
  • Strong interpersonal skills and an intuitive approach to supporting young people with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and speech or language barriers.

  • A calm, resilient nature capable of proactively supporting complex or challenging behaviours with positive reinforcement.

  • A flexible mindset to adapt to a highly personalised curriculum, moving seamlessly between indoor classroom learning and outdoor educational tasks.

  • A team-player attitude ready to work effectively alongside class teachers, residential staff, and on-site clinical practitioners.

Job Responsibilities
  • Providing tailored 1:1 and small group learning support to pupils, using bespoke timetables and visual tools to encourage engagement.

  • Assisting the class teacher in managing classroom dynamics and helping to maintain a safe, reassuring, and settled learning space.

  • Accompanying and supporting students during outdoor learning sessions, practical life-skills training, and community participation activities.

  • Tracking individual student progress, boosting their self-confidence, and strictly adhering to all safeguarding and child protection protocols.

Essential Requirements
  • Previous experience working with children or young adults with SEND, complex behaviours, or autism within a UK education or care setting.

  • Full eligibility to work in the UK (please note: visa sponsorship is not available for this role).

  • An enhanced DBS check on the update service, or a total willingness to undergo a new check via Randstad.
