Experienced SEND Teaching Assistant - One-to-One Support

Location: Sheffield

Start Date: September 2026

Role: Full-Time Teaching Assistant

Tradewind Recruitment is currently recruiting for several full-time SEND Teaching Assistant positions across Sheffield, with opportunities available for a September 2026 start. These roles will involve working closely with pupils who require additional support, providing dedicated one-to-one assistance to help them access education and achieve their goals.

We are seeking candidates who have experience supporting children with SEND, complex needs, and behavioural challenges. The successful applicants will be confident in building positive relationships with pupils and using a patient, consistent approach to help children overcome barriers to learning.

Previous experience supporting children with needs such as autism, ADHD, social and emotional difficulties, communication needs, or learning difficulties would be highly desirable.

Key responsibilities include:

Providing individualised support to pupils with SEND within the classroom and wider school environment

Helping children develop academically, socially, and emotionally

Supporting pupils who may display challenging behaviours through positive behaviour strategies

Assisting teachers with learning activities and personalised support plans

Encouraging confidence, independence, and engagement

Working collaboratively with school staff, SEN teams, and familiesWe are looking for applicants who have:

Experience working with children or young people with additional needs

Confidence supporting pupils with behavioural difficulties

A caring, resilient, and adaptable approach

Excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong relationships
