General Foreman - Tunnelling Project
Location: Derby
Contract: 12 Months
Rate: £330 -£350 per day
We are currently recruiting for an experienced General Foreman to join a major tunnelling project based in Derby. This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in the successful delivery of a significant infrastructure scheme, working alongside an established project team on a long-term contract.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day management of site operations, ensuring all activities are carried out safely, efficiently, and in accordance with programme, quality, and client requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee and coordinate daily site operations, ensuring work is delivered safely, on time, and to the required quality standards.
Supervise direct labour, subcontractors, and plant resources to maximise productivity and programme performance.
Promote and maintain the highest standards of health, safety, environmental, and quality compliance across the site.
Conduct daily briefings, toolbox talks, and site inductions, ensuring all personnel understand project requirements and safe systems of work.
Monitor progress against the construction programme and proactively identify and resolve site issues.
Work closely with the Site Manager, Project Manager, Engineers, and commercial team to ensure effective project delivery.
Ensure all works are carried out in accordance with approved RAMS, drawings, specifications, and company procedures.
Maintain accurate site records, including daily diaries, workforce allocation, inspections, and permit documentation.
Foster strong working relationships with clients, stakeholders, and the wider project team through clear and professional communication. Candidate Requirements
The ideal candidate will possess:
A valid SMSTS qualification.
A valid CSCS card.
EUSR accreditation.
Proven experience as a General Foreman on tunnelling, heavy civil engineering, or major infrastructure projects.
Strong leadership and people management skills, with the ability to motivate and coordinate multidisciplinary site teams.
Excellent communication and organisational abilities.
A proactive approach to problem-solving and a commitment to delivering projects safely, efficiently, and to a high standard. What's on Offer
