Apply Now

NRL are proud to be recruiting on behalf of AESC for IQC Technicians to join their world-leading, global Battery Manufacturing organisation based in the North East of England. In this role you will support the development and operation of a world class, innovative, large-scale mass manufacturing plant.

Main Objectives:

The role of the IQC Technician is to be responsible for ensuring the high performance, quality, and safety of the battery cells and modules produced by AESC. This role combines electrochemical testing, materials science, and manufacturing process control. The IQC Technician supports the development, testing, and quality assurance processes to produce batteries that meet the rigorous standards required for electric vehicle applications. Additionally, the IQC Technician will work closely with engineers, manufacturing, quality assurance and R&D teams to optimize battery performance and efficiency.

Outline and Responsibilities:

· Perform routine testing on lithium-ion battery cells to evaluate key performance indicators, such as energy density, capacity, charge/discharge efficiency, cycle life, and internal resistance.

· Conduct electrochemical analysis on battery components (e.g., anodes, cathodes, and electrolyte).

· Perform aging and durability tests under controlled conditions (temperature, humidity, charge/discharge cycles) to predict long-term battery performance and assess degradation over time.

· Raw material testing to test and verify the quality of materials used in the battery manufacturing process to ensure they meet specifications.

· Collect and document test results using laboratory management software and/or spreadsheets to ensure traceability and compliance with industry standards and quality management systems (ISO 9001, IATF 16949)

· Prepare and present test results to engineers, manufacturing and management, providing detailed feedback on battery performance, materials behavior and test outcomes.

· Adhere to safety standards to prevent accidents and ensure a safe working environment.

· Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on laboratory equipment to prevent downtime and ensure it is functioning properly for ongoing testing.

Experience & qualifications Required:

· Bachelor’s Degree (preferred but not required) in a relevant scientific or engineering discipline.

· Previous experience in either a chemical or performance/validation laboratory.

· Knowledge of Li-ion battery or Li-ion battery materials.

· Experience in data analysis, interpretation and reporting.

· Experience with IATF16949, ISO 9001 & VDA preferred.

· Strong written and verbal communication skills.

· Ability to travel within the UK & abroad with short notice (including extended periods overseas)

· Full driving license

If this role sounds of interest, apply with an up to date CV and a member of the recruitment team will be in touch.
