About the Opportunity
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced CAD / BIM Technician to join a growing team delivering complex mechanical and low-carbon energy projects across the UK.
Working on a range of innovative schemes including energy centres, district heating networks, heat pump installations, packaged plantrooms and prefabricated pipework systems, you will play a key role in developing coordinated BIM models, construction drawings and fabrication information from concept through to installation.
This role would suit someone with a strong background in mechanical building services, BIM modelling or pipework fabrication design who is looking to work on technically challenging and sustainable infrastructure projects.
Key Responsibilities
BIM & CAD Modelling
- Produce detailed 2D and 3D models using Autodesk Revit and AutoCAD.
- Develop coordinated mechanical plantroom, energy centre and pipework models.
- Create fabrication-ready layouts for prefabricated pipework, skids and modular plant systems.
- Produce General Arrangement (GA), installation, section and elevation drawings.
- Generate spool drawings, isometric drawings and fabrication information.
- Maintain drawing and model quality in accordance with project BIM requirements.
Design Coordination
- Coordinate designs with mechanical, electrical, structural and civil disciplines.
- Participate in BIM reviews and clash detection workshops.
- Ensure designs are practical, buildable and suitable for manufacture and installation.
- Incorporate survey and point cloud information where required.
- Support project teams during technical design reviews.
Project Delivery
- Produce drawing packages through design, construction and as-built stages.
- Manage revisions and updates following design changes and site feedback.
- Assist with BIM documentation and project deliverables.
- Support the preparation of O&M and as-installed documentation.
Offsite Manufacturing Support
- Develop detailed fabrication models for carbon steel and stainless-steel pipework systems.
- Produce fully dimensioned spool and skid drawings.
- Liaise with workshop teams to resolve fabrication queries.
- Ensure designs reflect manufacturing, transportation and installation requirements.
Requirements
Essential
- HNC/HND in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, BIM, CAD or a related discipline.
