Senior Quantity Surveyor - Highways Project
Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to support a major highways project, with primary responsibility for the development, maintenance, and reporting of detailed project cost forecasts. The role will also provide wider commercial and Quantity Surveying support to the project team, including cover for the commercial team as required.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the preparation, maintenance, and reporting of accurate and robust project cost forecasts.
Monitor and forecast all project cost categories, including subcontractors, labour, plant/equipment, and materials.
Analyse construction phase programmes and incorporate programme performance and changes into cost forecasting and commercial reporting.
Support project cost control, risk management, and financial performance reporting.
Undertake general Quantity Surveying duties, including commercial administration and contract support.
Provide commercial team support and cover during periods of absence or peak workload.Essential Experience & Skills
Significant Quantity Surveying experience within highways or major infrastructure projects.
Strong working knowledge of NEC4 ECC Option B and Option C contracts.
Thorough understanding of the Method of Measurement for Highway Works (MMHW).
Proven ability to interpret construction programmes and apply programme data to cost forecasting and commercial decision-making.
Demonstrable experience producing detailed, accurate, and reliable forecasts across all major cost types, including:
Subcontractors
Direct labour/resources
Plant and equipment
Materials
Strong commercial acumen, analytical skills, and attention to detail.Desirable
Experience working within integrated project teams on complex highways schemes.
Strong stakeholder management and commercial reporting capabilities
