We’re recruiting an EC&I Hardware Designer on behalf of our client, a leading organisation delivering safety-critical control and automation systems within the nuclear sector. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced hardware designer to contribute to complex, regulated projects from design through to delivery. You’ll join a collaborative engineering team driving high standards of safety and technical integrity.

Warrington-based | Hybrid working (typically 2–3 days per week on site)
Client Overview
Our client is a respected engineering business specialising in the design and delivery of control and automation systems for safety-critical environments. They have a strong reputation for quality, technical capability, and performance in highly regulated sectors, including nuclear.
Responsibilities
Design and develop electrical enclosures, control panels, and interface systems
Produce detailed electrical design deliverables using AutoCAD
Prepare design documentation including general assemblies, I/O schedules, cable and power load calculations
Support design reviews, engineering assessments, and occasional site visits
Collaborate with manufacturing teams to ensure high-quality output
Produce supporting documentation such as test specifications, inspection reports, and installation method statements
Assist in equipment testing against associated drawings and quality requirementsMust-have Requirements
Proven experience using AutoCAD for electrical design
EC&I hardware design experience within engineering projects
Competence in designing control panels, MCCs, or electrical enclosures
Experience working in regulated industries (nuclear strongly preferred)
Knowledge of IET Wiring Regulations and CDM Regulations
Understanding of cable routing, panel layouts, and system integration
Excellent communication skills and ability to work as part of a project teamNice-to-have Skills
Familiarity with PLC, HMI, or SCADA systems
Knowledge of functional safety standards, such as IEC 61508
Understanding of Sellafield standards
Security clearance (BPSS as a minimum; SC eligibility desirable)Apply Now
