SEMH Teacher

Location: Wakefield, West Yorkshire

Start Date: September 2026

Contract Type: Full-time, Long-term

Rate: 140 - 232 per day (dependent on experience and responsibilities)

Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am 4:00pm

About the School

The school provides a safe, nurturing and therapeutic environment where pupils are supported to develop emotional regulation, resilience and positive learning behaviours. You will join a dedicated team focused on delivering high child education that meets each learners individual needs.

As an SEMH Teacher, you will

Deliver tailored teaching to primary-aged pupils with SEMH needs, using relational and trauma approaches.
Plan and differentiate lessons that support EHCP outcomes, emotional development and academic progress.
Work collaboratively with the SENCO, pastoral staff, therapists and parents/carers to ensure consistent, holistic support.
Embed emotional regulation strategies and promote positive behaviour through restorative and therapeutic practices.
Support progress across academic, social and emotional areas.
What Were Looking For

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
• Experience in SEMH or specialist settings, or strong SEMH knowledge within mainstream education.
• Calm, empathetic and resilient practice with a commitment to trauma teaching.
• Passion for inclusive education and supporting vulnerable learners.
• Adaptable teaching methods to meet diverse emotional and learning needs.

To be eligible, you must

• Hold Right to Work in the UK.
• Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS registered on the update service or be willing to apply for one.
• Provide two professional, education based references.
