Prospero Teaching is looking for a dedicated and experienced Maths & English Tutor to provide 1:1 support to students in Sidcup. The students are currently out of mainstream education, including those awaiting school placements, receiving alternative provision, or accessing EOTAS packages.

This is a rewarding opportunity to work with young people who may have experienced disruption to their education and require tailored academic support to help them re-engage with learning, build confidence, and achieve their educational goals.

Key Responsibilities:

Deliver engaging and personalised Maths and English tuition tailored to the student's age, ability, and learning needs.

Support students who are currently out of school and may have gaps in their education.

Identify learning needs and create structured lesson plans to accelerate progress.

Develop confidence and competence in core Maths and English skills.

Adapt teaching methods and resources to suit individual learning styles and needs.

Foster positive attitudes towards learning and encourage student engagement.

Monitor, record, and report on student progress and outcomes.

Build strong relationships with students, parents/carers, schools, and local authorities where required.

Requirements:

Experience teaching or tutoring Maths and English.

Strong knowledge of the UK National Curriculum.

Experience working with children and young people who may be disengaged from education.

Ability to build rapport and motivate learners with a range of needs and abilities.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).

Right to work in the UK.

Desirable:

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or a relevant teaching qualification.

Experience delivering EOTAS, alternative provision, or home tuition.

Experience supporting students with SEND, SEMH needs, anxiety, or behavioural challenges.

Experience preparing students for SATs, GCSEs, or Functional Skills qualifications.

Degree in Mathematics, English, Education, or a related subject.
