English Specialist Teaching Assistant - Tower Hamlets

Are you a graduate with a passion for English and a desire to inspire the next generation of learners?

A welcoming and ambitious secondary school in Tower Hamlets is seeking a dedicated English Specialist Teaching Assistant to join their team from September. This is an excellent opportunity for an English graduate or someone with strong literacy skills who is considering a career in teaching.

Working closely with the English Department, you will support students across Key Stages 3 and 4, helping them develop their reading, writing, comprehension and analytical skills. You will provide targeted interventions, support pupils in lessons and help raise attainment across the department.

The Role:

Support students during English lessons across KS3 and KS4.

Deliver small group and one-to-one literacy interventions.

Assist teachers with lesson preparation and classroom activities.

Encourage students to develop confidence in reading, writing and communication.

Support pupils preparing for GCSE English Language and Literature.

Monitor student progress and provide feedback to teaching staff.

Help create a positive, engaging and inclusive learning environment.

The Ideal Candidate:

A degree in English, English Literature, Creative Writing or a related subject.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

A genuine passion for education and supporting young people.

Previous experience working with children or young people is desirable but not essential.

Patient, enthusiastic and able to build positive relationships with students.

An interest in progressing into teacher training in the future is welcomed.
