Are you a compassionate and dedicated Teaching Assistant with a passion for supporting children with Special Educational Needs (SEN)?

Academics is recruiting on behalf of a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Mid Sussex for a full-time SEN 1:1 Teaching Assistant to join their team from September 2026.

This rewarding role involves providing dedicated one-to-one support for a pupil with additional needs, helping them to access the curriculum, develop confidence, and thrive both academically and socially. Working alongside the class teacher, SENCO and wider support staff, you'll play a vital role in creating a positive and nurturing learning experience.

The Role

Full-time, term-time only position.

Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a pupil with Special Educational Needs.

Support learning both inside and outside the classroom.

Adapt activities to meet the child's individual learning and communication needs.

Encourage independence, confidence and positive behaviour.

Promote the child's emotional wellbeing and social development.

Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO, parents and external professionals where appropriate.

Experience supporting children with SEN is desirable, particularly in a primary school setting.

A patient, empathetic and resilient approach.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

The ability to build positive, trusting relationships with children.

A proactive attitude and willingness to work collaboratively as part of a dedicated team.

A genuine passion for helping children overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential.
