The Assignment
We have an immediate requirement for a Summer Manufacturing Technician to join a leading organisation within the medical diagnostics and life sciences sector based in Birmingham.
This is an excellent opportunity for candidates seeking valuable manufacturing experience over the summer period. Working within a busy Operations team, you'll support the production of innovative diagnostic products used globally while gaining exposure to a highly regulated manufacturing environment.
This is a fixed-term 3-month summer placement with no possibility of contract extension.
What the Work Involves
Working as part of a fast-paced manufacturing team, your duties will include:
Managing your own workload against a published production plan.
Ensuring materials and inventory are available and accurately transacted to complete assigned work.
Operating and supporting designated manufacturing equipment, processes, and work areas.
Completing production activities in accordance with quality, compliance, and safety standards.
Identifying opportunities for process improvements and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
Taking ownership of tasks and ensuring work is completed accurately and right first time.
Supporting additional operational activities as required.
Hours, Shifts & Pay
Shift Pattern: Monday-Friday, 07:00-15:30
Pay Rate: £13.53 per hour
Pay Frequency: Weekly
Holiday Pay: Accrued in line with agency regulations
What We Need From You
Minimum 1 year of experience within a manufacturing, production, operations, laboratory, or similar environment.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
Good verbal and written communication skills.
IT literacy, including Microsoft Office and Excel.
Ability to learn new processes and follow instructions accurately.
Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
Comfortable working independently and within a fast-paced environment.
Good technical aptitude and confidence working with machinery or manufacturing equipment.
Desirable Experience
Experience working in a cGMP-regulated environment.
Previous inventory management experience.
Exposure to workload planning or continuous improvement activities.
Key Skills
Strong quality and compliance mindset in a fast-paced environment.
Technical competence with machinery and manufacturing equipment.
Ability to work independently, take ownership of tasks, and perform well under pressure.
