Graduate Teaching Assistant - Secondary School - Brent - September 2026 Start - Full-Time

Are you a recent graduate looking to gain invaluable classroom experience before embarking on a career in teaching?

Do you have a passion for education and want to support young people in reaching their academic potential while developing your own skills within a secondary school setting?

Tradewind Recruitment is partnering with a welcoming and high-achieving secondary school in Brent seeking to appoint an enthusiastic Graduate Teaching Assistant from September 2026. This full-time role is ideal for graduates considering a future career in teaching, educational psychology, or other education-related professions.

This is an excellent opportunity to work alongside experienced teachers, support students across Key Stages 3 and 4, and gain the hands-on classroom experience needed for future teacher training.

The Role

As a Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and students to provide academic and pastoral support, helping to create an engaging and inclusive learning environment where every student can succeed.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting students across Key Stages 3 and 4 in lessons across a range of subject areas.
  • Delivering one-to-one and small group interventions to improve student progress and confidence.
  • Assisting teachers with lesson preparation and classroom activities.
  • Supporting students with varying learning needs, including those with SEND where appropriate.
  • Encouraging positive behaviour and engagement within the classroom.
  • Helping to monitor student progress and provide feedback to teaching staff.
  • Assisting with classroom management to ensure a positive learning environment.
  • Supporting students with coursework, revision, and examination preparation.
  • Building positive relationships with students and acting as a positive role model.
  • Contributing to the wider school community through enrichment activities and school events where required.

Who the School is Looking For

The school is keen to hear from motivated, enthusiastic graduates who are passionate about education and committed to helping young people succeed.

You should have:

  • A degree in any subject.
  • A genuine interest in pursuing a career in teaching or education.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A positive, proactive, and adaptable approach.
  • The ability to build strong relationships with students and staff.
  • Confidence working with young people in a classroom environment.
  • Previous experience working with children or young people is desirable but not essential.
  • A willingness to learn from experienced teachers and contribute positively to school life.

Why Apply?

  • Join a supportive and welcoming secondary school in Brent.
  • Gain invaluable classroom experience ahead of teacher training.
  • Work alongside experienced teachers and education professionals.
  • Develop your behaviour management, communication, and classroom support skills.
  • Make a meaningful difference to students' academic progress and confidence.
  • Full-time, term-time only role starting in September 2026.
  • Excellent opportunities for long-term progression and future teacher training.
  • Be part of a school community that values professional development and student success.
