TeacherActive work in partnership with the Medway local authority to support young people who are currently out of education for wide variety of reasons or needs.

We are currently recruiting for a tutor to support a range of young people from primary age trhough to secondary and P16, often working below their expected levels. Many of the young people we support will present with a range of needs, from ASD and ADHD through to EBD and SEMH along with other specific learning, behavioural or medical needs.

We are looking for dedicated and compassionate tutors to support young people and their family in the Medway area, Chatham and the surrounds. You will have experience in tutoring 1:1, in particular with the SEND needs described above and having experience of supporting a young person with an EHCP, ongoing health conditions, and developing needs. Being aware of trauma informed education techniques and other challenges such as PDA would be a benefit but not an essentail element. 

Having experinece tutoring maths and English up to foundation level or functional skills are also a key element of this tuition role as much of the tuition will focus on skills relating to those two key subject areas.

The Tuition Role:

One-to-one tuition in the young person’s home

Support a learner through personalised learning plans

Deliver specific tuition and beyond where applicable

Build trust and confidence in a safe, supportive learning environment

Key Details for this Tutor:

Flexible, temporary work based on the learner’s individual needs

Hourly pay – funded support provision

Ongoing Tutor referrals available in Medway

Ideal Candidate for this Tutor position:

Experienced in working with SEND, SEMH, or dis-engaged/anxious learners

Confident delivering lessons independently and adapting to varied needs

Patient, empathetic, caring and resilient

Able to travel locally for face-to-face tuition
