School Caretaker

Location: Plymouth

We are looking for a reliable, proactive, and professional School Caretaker to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the school premises are safe, secure, clean, and well-maintained, providing a positive environment for pupils, staff, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities

* Opening and securing the school site as required.

* Carrying out routine maintenance, repairs, and basic DIY tasks.

* Maintaining the cleanliness and appearance of the school grounds and buildings.

* Conducting health and safety checks and reporting any hazards or defects.

* Setting up rooms and facilities for school events and activities.

* Liaising with contractors and supporting site management as required.

* Ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.

Essential Requirements

* A current Enhanced DBS certificate is mandatory and must be in place before employment can commence.

* Ability to carry out basic maintenance and repair tasks.

* Good understanding of health and safety responsibilities.

* Reliable, trustworthy, and able to work independently.

* Strong organisational skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

Desirable Requirements

* Previous experience in a caretaker, site supervisor, facilities, maintenance, or similar role.

* Experience working within a school or educational environment.

* Knowledge of building maintenance, security procedures, and health and safety regulations.
