About the Role

Veritas Education is currently recruiting enthusiastic and dedicated Secondary SEN Teaching Assistants to support pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN) across secondary schools in Burnley. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a positive impact on the educational journey and personal development of young people aged 11-16.

Working closely with teaching staff and SENCOs, you will provide tailored support to students with a range of needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, speech and language difficulties, and learning disabilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide one-to-one and small group support for students with SEN.
  • Assist teachers in delivering engaging and accessible lessons.
  • Support pupils with social, emotional, and behavioural needs.
  • Encourage student independence, confidence, and participation in learning.
  • Help implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and behaviour strategies.
  • Monitor student progress and provide feedback to teaching staff.
  • Maintain a safe, inclusive, and positive learning environment.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
  • Experience working with children or young people with SEN, either in schools or alternative settings.
  • A patient, caring, and resilient approach.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to build positive relationships with students and staff.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
  • Relevant qualifications or training in education, childcare, SEN, psychology, or youth work (desirable but not essential).
