Long Term Futures is seeking a dedicated and resilient Behaviour Mentor to join a welcoming secondary school in Waltham Forest. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting young people to overcome behavioural, emotional, and social barriers to learning.

Working closely with pastoral leaders, teaching staff, and the wider inclusion team, you will play an important role in helping students develop positive behaviours, improve engagement, and achieve success both inside and outside the classroom.

Key Responsibilities

Provide one-to-one and small-group mentoring for students who require additional behavioural and pastoral support.

Build positive, professional relationships that encourage confidence, resilience, and improved engagement with learning.

Work alongside teachers to implement behaviour support plans and consistent intervention strategies.

Support students in managing their emotions, resolving conflict, and making positive choices throughout the school day.

Promote high expectations of behaviour while maintaining a calm, supportive, and inclusive approach.

Monitor attendance, punctuality, behaviour, and wellbeing, reporting concerns to the appropriate staff where necessary.

Liaise with parents, carers, and external professionals when required to support positive student outcomes.

Contribute to a safe, respectful, and inclusive school environment where all students can thrive.

What We're Looking For

Previous experience working with young people in a school, alternative provision, youth work, mentoring, or similar setting.

Strong behaviour management skills with the ability to remain calm under pressure.

Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.

A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach when supporting students with additional behavioural or emotional needs.

The ability to work collaboratively with teachers, pastoral staff, and the wider school team.

GCSE Grade C/4 or above (or equivalent) in English and Maths.

Experience supporting students with SEMH, Autism (ASC), ADHD, or other additional needs would be advantageous.

Why Work with Long Term Futures?

Competitive daily rates with weekly pay.

A dedicated consultant who will support you throughout your placement.

Access to ongoing CPD and professional development opportunities.

Opportunities to secure long-term and permanent positions within highly regarded schools.

Referral bonuses for recommending friends and colleagues working in education.
