Freelance Design Manager - Data Centre Project (Berkshire)

Location: Slough, Berkshire

Contract Type: Freelance / Contract

Rate: Approximately £500 per day (DOE)

We are seeking an experienced Design Manager to join a high-profile data centre project in Slough. This is an excellent opportunity for a design professional with a strong technical background and experience delivering complex construction projects within mission-critical, industrial, or large-scale commercial environments.

Key Responsibilities

Manage and coordinate the design process from pre-construction through to project delivery.

Lead design team meetings and ensure effective communication between consultants, contractors, and client stakeholders.

Review and manage design information to ensure compliance with project requirements, programme, and quality standards.

Coordinate multidisciplinary design packages and resolve technical design issues.

Monitor design progress against programme and identify potential risks or delays.

Ensure designs comply with relevant regulations, standards, and client specifications.

Support procurement activities through design reviews and technical input.

Manage design change processes and maintain accurate design records.

Requirements

Proven experience as a Design Manager on large-scale construction projects.

Previous data centre, mission-critical, industrial, pharmaceutical, or major MEP-intensive project experience preferred.

Strong understanding of construction methodologies, building regulations, and design coordination.

Experience working with consultants, subcontractors, and client teams.

Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced project environment.
