Freelance Design Manager - Data Centre Project (Berkshire)

Location: Slough, Berkshire
Contract Type: Freelance / Contract
Rate: Approximately 500 per day (DOE)

We are seeking an experienced Design Manager to join a high-profile data centre project in Slough. This is an excellent opportunity for a design professional with a strong technical background and experience delivering complex construction projects within mission-critical, industrial, or large-scale commercial environments.

• Manage and coordinate the design process from pre-construction through to project delivery.
• Lead design team meetings and ensure effective communication between consultants, contractors, and client stakeholders.
• Review and manage design information to ensure compliance with project requirements, programme, and quality standards.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary design packages and resolve technical design issues.
• Monitor design progress against programme and identify potential risks or delays.
• Ensure designs comply with relevant regulations, standards, and client specifications.
• Support procurement activities through design reviews and technical input.
• Manage design change processes and maintain accurate design records.

• Proven experience as a Design Manager on large-scale construction projects.
• Previous data centre, mission-critical, industrial, pharmaceutical, or major MEP-intensive project experience preferred.
• Strong understanding of construction methodologies, building regulations, and design coordination.
• Experience working with consultants, subcontractors, and client teams.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced project environment.
