National Grid Competent Person (NSI 6 & 8 Full)
Location: Walpole 400kV Substation, Walpole Bank, Walpole, PE14 7JE
Start Date: 27th July 2026 - Minimum 5 months length
Hours: 07:30am - 5:30pm
Weekend work may be available.

We're currently looking for an experienced National Grid Competent Person (NSI 6 & 8 Full) to join a major 400kV substation project at Walpole.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a long-term transmission project working alongside an experienced site team on essential civil engineering works within a live National Grid environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Accept safety documents from the National Grid SAP
• Work under National Grid procedures and ensure full compliance with site rules
• Supervise and control works safely within your designated work area
• Follow and manage F1 routes in accordance with National Grid requirements
• Oversee civil works including:
• Draw pit construction
• Excavation works
• HV duct installation
• Shuttering and concrete pouring for gas trolley paths
• Ensure all works are completed safely and to the required quality standards

Requirements:

• National Grid Competent Person - NSI 6 & 8 Full (Essential)
• Previous experience working on live National Grid substations
• Strong understanding of National Grid safety procedures and documentation
• Experience overseeing civil engineering activities within substations
• Excellent communication and leadership skills
