Machine Operator

Purpose of the Role
Barker Ross is recruiting for an experienced Machine Setter/Operator to join a fast-paced food manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for setting up, operating and maintaining production machinery to ensure efficient, safe and high-quality production.
This role requires strong technical knowledge, problem-solving skills and attention to detail. You will work closely with the Shift Leader and Engineering team to minimise downtime and maximise production efficiency.

Shift - 5am-1pm Mon-Fri
pay rate is 15.56 per hour

Key Responsibilities
Machine Operation
Set up, operate and monitor production machinery to ensure efficient performance.
Prepare machinery for planned production changeovers.
Adjust machine settings for different production runs.
Record production data and machine performance.
Escalate technical or engineering issues in line with company procedures.

Maintenance & Troubleshooting
Identify and resolve minor mechanical faults.
Carry out routine maintenance including cleaning, lubrication and machine resets.
Perform regular equipment checks to ensure optimal performance.
Complete maintenance handover documentation accurately.
Escalate major breakdowns to the Engineering team.

General Duties
Work collaboratively with Production, Engineering and Shift Leaders.
Provide support and cover for colleagues when required.
Carry out any other reasonable duties requested by management.

Skills & Experience
Previous experience within a food manufacturing or production environment.
Experience operating and maintaining production machinery.
Basic mechanical and fault-finding skills.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
Excellent problem-solving abilities.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Flexible, reliable and self-motivated.
Comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Good verbal and written communication skills.
IOSH certification is desirable (training can be provided).
Follow all Health & Safety and food hygiene procedures.
